Video:“A La Una” Medley

This Festival provided audiences the unique opportunity to hear the same texts and melodies in a multitude of genres. Here we have three very different versions of a famous Ladino folk song about the coming of age. José Lemos sings a traditional version, accompanied by Marco Sartor and Danny Mallon. Katherine Soroka then sings Roberto Sierra’s version, where the same tune is accompanied by a lush, modern, exotic sounding ensemble. Finally, we hear an excerpt of the same song as recorded by Sarah Aroeste on her album, “A La Una”, which she used to open her set at Club Café.
